Let's Pray for Romeo

Bothers and sisters in the Passionist family, let us include in our
prayers the brother of Fr. Deo Sustiguer, ROMEO, who recently (Sept. 21) passed away.
May the Lord God let His radiance shine upn him and may Romeo
find eternal rest in God's heavenly Kingdom. We also pray for the bereaved family
that they may have the strength they need as they mourn for the loss of their loved one.

Praying For Victims of Calamities

Let's remember to say our prayers for those who are severely affected by
the recent flooding in Joso and nearby localities in northeastern Japan. A
lot of families have been dislocated and houses and properties destroyed or
even washed away by the flood.

Remembering Bishop Arliss

It used to be a big day, today, in the Diocese of Marbel, in the province
of South Cotabato. This was bishop Reginald Arliss' birthday! He was a
gentle and warm shepherd of God's flock. And so as we celebrate the
birthday of our Blessed Mother Mary, we also recall with fond memories the
late bishop who was himself a great devotee of the Mother of God.

The Wolf Turned Shepherd

A wolf, finding that the sheep were so afraid of him that he could not get
near them, disguised himself in the dress of a shepherd, and thus attired
approached the flock. As he came near, he found the shepherd fast asleep.
As the sheep did not run away, he resolved to imitate the voice of the
shepherd. In trying to do so, he only howled, and awoke the shepherd. As he
could not run away, he was soon killed.
- Aesop's Fables

Those who attempt to act in disguise are apt to overdo it.

Christian Joy

"Christian joy is interior. It doesn’t come from without but from within
- like certain alpine lakes which are fed not from a river that flows from outside,
but from a spring of water welling up from their very foundations.
It comes from God’s mysterious and present action in the human heart through grace.
It can cause us to abound with joy in our sufferings (cf. 2 Cor 7: 4).
It is the "fruit of the Spirit" (Gal 5: 22, Rom 14:17) and is expressed in peace of heart,
fullness of meaning, the ability to love and to be loved,
and above all in hope, without which there can be no joy.”
- Fr. Cantalamessa

"Give something, however small, to the one in need. For it is not small to
one who has nothing. Neither is it small to God, if we have given what we
could." - St. Gregory Nazianzen
